Total Enrollment: 180-190 students.

What are the class sizes?

Class sizes are 20:1 in K-3; 25:1 in grades 4-5.

School configuration 2003-2004: K to 1 Loop, K, K, K-1, 1, 1-2, 2, 3, 3-4, 4-5.
School configuration 2004-2005: K, K, 1, 1, 2, 2, 3-4, 3-4, 4-5.

Can the configuration change with yearly enrollment changes?

Yes: configuration may vary from year to year with enrollment.

Are there multi-age classroom? How about looping?

There are multi-age classrooms in grades 3, 4. and 5, but we are in our last year of looping for grades K and 1.

Is Orion based on Parent Participation? What does that mean?

Yes, a participation contract is required. Commitment is 72 hours for one child enrolled; 108 hours for two or more children enrolled.

Is there on-size after school care?

No on site before or after school care. Parents are referred to community childcare resources.

Is Orion a neighborhood school?

Districtwide enrollment area -- Orion is not a neighborhood school.

Is there any additional full time staff?

Additional Full-time Staff: Resource Teacher, including Technology.

How about part time additional staff?

Part-time Support Staff: Special Education RSP teacher, Psychologist, Language/Speech Specialists, School Nurse, Outreach Specialist, Bilingual Resource assistant, Instrumental Music teacher.

Are there any special programs to augment the curriculum?

Yes. Art, Music and Physical Education Programs are available to students in all classes, through community resources, which have included nonprofit community supported programs, volunteer or site funded programs: Music for Minors, Art in Action, Music for Learning Program, Rhythm and Moves, Kollage Community School for the Arts.

What are the school hours?

School starts at 8:10 and ends at 2:30 every day except on Thursdays (Minimum Day) where students leave one hour earlier: at 1:30. Kindergarten ends at 1:30 every day.
